In the edition of the Princess of Asturias sports Prize 2016 there will be twenty candidacy from 10 countries. The full list of applicants will give it unveiled on Tuesday the foundation that promotes the award.

The swimmer Teresa Perales Paralympic has already thanked the sports personalities who support his candidacy, although she said that she is “just the tip of the iceberg of thousands of huge stories” that also deserve it.

The swimmer Zaragoza, winning 22 medals at the games, has been nominated by national coach Vicente de el Bosque soccer and the tennis player Rafael Nadal, among others.

A total of 20 candidates, coming from Andorra, Argentina, United States, France, Japan, New Zealand, Portugal, United Kingdom, Ukraine and Spain they opt for this award.

Sports is the fifth of the eight awards, serving his thirty sixth edition, and the ruling will be known next Wednesday June 8th.

The 16 members of the jury include Olympic medalist Abel Antón, the former player of students Ignacio Azofra, Emilio Butragueño second and the ex Conchita Martinez.

In previous years were distinguished the New York Marathon; Jose Maria Olazabal; Iker Casillas and Xavi Hernandez; Haile Gebrselassie; the Spanish football team; Yelena Isinbayeva; Rafa Nadal; Michael Schumacher or the Spanish national basketball team.

In this edition of the Princess of Asturias Awards was already distinguished actress, Director and production designer Núria Espert with the arts; the American photojournalist James Nachtwey with communication and Humanities; the British historian Mary Beard, with the social sciences, and the American mechanic and biophysical engineer Hugh Herr with the of scientific and technical research
